Candlelight 2011…Touching Lives…Lifting the Standard

“The time has come for us as a nation to focus on achieving zero tolerance for marginalisation and discrimination of people affected by HIV and AIDS.”

The Honourable Prime Minister, Mrs. Kamla Persad-Bissessar.

The above words of the Honourable Prime Minister echo our own. We agree that it is time for us as a nation to become more tactful as we zealously encourage behaviour change initiatives that will yield appropriate and resolute responses; such as those encouraged in our ongoing programme: Your Choice, not merely your life Chance, will determines your destiny.

This year, we are pleased to fulfil our pivotal role in Candlelight Memorial observance by marking the passing of those lost to the virus while saluting those who continue to shed light on HIV. In this vein, we are inviting you to spend some time with us as we reflect and look ahead:

Venue: Reformation and Transformation Centre; VON-OC Headquarters

Date:    Sunday May 15, 2011

Time: 4pm

Theme: Touching Lives…Lifting the Standard…

Guests will be brought up to date on local HIV and AIDS services as an entry point perhaps to volunteering their own time and talent. Join us as we seek to empower residents of rural communities via photo exhibition, movies …. We will be happy to have you share your thoughts with us on this occasion. You may perhaps wish to offer remarks on the impact which HIV and AIDS have had on your life or on how important it is for our citizens to be aware of the impact of HIV and AIDS on our country. If so, please indicate at the earliest opportunity.

Should you be unable to join us for Candlelight Memorial, perhaps you might wish to light a candle in your home, permitting us instead to include your name among those endorsing this event.
